The Garden

Henrieke

The poem on the poster is about the effects of gardening for mental health. It tells the story about a person who is having a bad time and finds relief and mental healing while gardening. However, in the end it turns out that the person just imagined the gardening and is not able to do it in reality because there is no access to a place where it would be possible. The picture in the background emphasizes the story and the message of the poem

The Poster refers to the problem of big cities that possibly not everyone has access to green spaces, which can lead to troubles with mental (and physical) health. With the explicit topic of (urban) gardening it also points out how specific activities in green spaces can have a positive effect on mental health. It is meant to raise awareness for the right of everyone to have access to green spaces, where the people are able to practise various activities, depending on what improves their mental (and physical) health. The Poster reaches out to people living in big cities, who have to deal with the struggles of having not enough green around.

Text and pictures in the Poster by Henrieke Polewka.
